FAQ
- Do I have to be a Gauntlet at the Garden ticketholder to participate in the challenge?
Not at all - we're partnering with Dimension 20 to ensure that even fans who aren't going to the live show still have a way to be part of the experience, by becoming a Champion of New York through volunteering.
- What do I need to do to complete the challenge?
As long as you are registered for the challenge, all you need to do to complete it is volunteer at least once on a New York Cares project before 12pm midnight on Friday, January 24, 2025.
- How do I find projects to volunteer on?
Check out our project search page to find an opportunity that fits your interests and schedule. New York Cares works with hundreds of Community Partner organizations across the five boroughs. All of our projects are group-based and hands-on, so you'll always be with a group of like-minded people working towards a shared goal that has an immediate impact.
Whether you want to search by location, time of day, or interest, as we say around here - there's a project for that!
- Can I volunteer more than once?
YES! In fact, we encourage it. We aim for everyone to have a volunteer experience that inspires them to keep coming back to join us in creating the city we know we can be.
- Can I participate if I don't live in NYC?
Absolutely - here are two ways to get involved:
1. Become a Wish Granter
Our Winter Wishes program has granted hundreds of thousands of gifts to NYC youth over the last 34 years. Each wish is matched with a generous wish granter who purchases and sends gifts directly to a nonprofit or school for distribution. The result? Pure holiday magic!
When you register as a Wish Granter, you'll claim any number of wish letters to grant. You can then download your digital wish letters, purchase gifts, and ship them to the recipient organization/school.
Important: The deadline for gifts to arrive at the designated school or nonprofit is Monday, December 9, 2024, so this option will only be available until then.
2. Volunteer on a Virtual Project
We have a limited number of virtual volunteering opportunities, so grab a spot while you can! All projects are added to our website on a rolling basis, 1 month out from the project date, and we encourage you to keep checking back for new opportunities.
Please note that joining a virtual info session, workshop, or training does not qualify as serving on a volunteer project.
3. Volunteer In-Person
If you're coming to NYC for the event, you can volunteer with us! Our projects are posted a month in advance, so start checking our website in late December for projects the week of the Gauntlet at the Garden. The challenge period ends at midnight, so you could even volunteer the morning of before heading to the show.
Coming from overseas? No worries. As long as you provide a U.S. address and U.S. phone number where we can reach you, you can still create an account.
