New York Cares runs two large-scale days of service every year. These events are serve-a-thons, where volunteers ask friends and family to donate in recognition of their volunteer work.
These events are the perfect way for individuals and groups to make a difference in just one day, no orientation required. Gather a team of coworkers, family, and friends or come on your own to make a big difference in one day.
- Paint a brighter future for New York City public school students this October on New York Cares Day, New York City's largest day of volunteer service. You'll join 8,000 volunteers to paint playgrounds, classrooms, and colorful murals, organize libraries, and help with other maintenance tasks that are often put on the back burner.
- Join 5,000 volunteers this April to give our city a good spring cleaning on Hands On New York Day. Get New York City parks, gardens, and community spaces ready for summer by gardening, painting, weeding, and revitalizing these urban oases. This event is generously sponsored by HSBC Bank.
