Children's Education Programs
Help close the education gap on a children's project
NYC students need your support to inspire, engage, and most importantly, help close the education gap.
New York Cares works with grades 3-8 in low-income NYC neighborhoods to support their educational and emotional development through four unique programs.

📖 English Language Learners (ELL)
- Runs weekly November 2023 to May 2024
- Takes place primarily during school hours; limited early morning or afternoon shifts may be available
- Requirements: Attend a virtual Q&A session, complete online training, and attend all program sessions
- Spanish speaking ability helpful, though not required
❤️ Social Emotional Learning (SEL)
Work with 3rd grade students in small groups to increase their competence in core social-emotional learning skills such as self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision-making through SEL curriculum and activities.
- Runs weekly November 2023 to May 2024
- Takes place primarily during school hours; limited early morning or afternoon shifts may be available
- Requirements: Attend a virtual Q&A session, complete online training, and attend all program sessions
✍️ English Language Activities (ELA)
Work with students’ needs by using a thoughtful combination of the following approaches: utilizing Common Core-aligned ELA Workbooks, providing ELA homework help, and creating student-informed lesson plans on a need-by-need basis.

- Takes place primarily during school hours; limited early morning or afternoon shifts may be available
- Requirements: Attend a virtual Q&A session, complete online training, and attend all program sessions
🧮 Math Tutoring
Work with students' needs by using a thoughtful combination of the following approaches: utilizing Common Core aligned math workbooks, providing math homework help, and creating student-informed lesson plans on a need-by-need basis.
